France: Umicore Viviez celebrates its 150 years of activity
Proud of its 150 years in zinc manufacturing, Umicore Building Products in Viviez is celebrating its confidence in the future. Indeed the site, locally still known as 'La Vieille (Montagne)', can look back on a rich history since 1855 and simultaneously look forward to the introduction of a new high-tech preweathering line in mid-2006 which will triple production capacity!
During the official celebration on 25 November, the Umicore management joined local dignitaries to inaugurate the new preweathering building on the site.
On this occasion the factory opened its doors and the staff welcomed local authorities, residents, personnel and family for a guided tour of the plant and a “past and present” exhibition. Almost 2000 visitors were able to make a guided tour of the plant.
