Why did you join Umicore?
Eight years ago when I was working in metal trading, I sold cobalt to Umicore. There, I met the general manager of the cobalt powders business in Shanghai who told me about the company. I thought it offered a lot of opportunities for young people because of its size, world-wide reach and variety of products.
How would you describe your role at Umicore?
My main responsibility at Umicore is developing our cobalt powder market in China. This means frequently visiting key customers. I explain how Umicore's technical expertise can help improve the quality of our customers' products. I also explain how, as the biggest cobalt producer worldwide, we can offer consistent supply and pricing.
What are your future expectations?
I'm aiming to move to a different business from cobalt powder to extend my experience. Eventually, I would like to spend a few years working overseas and then bring that experience back to China. I always want to keep moving.
